MagBox IPTV

Setup guide

Install MAG Box IPTV on every screen at home

Start with the MAG box on your shelf, which needs no app at all. Every other screen gets its own short list further down, each one ending in a working channel guide.

Before you start

Three things to have ready for MAG Box IPTV

A minute of preparation saves a lot of fiddling later.

  • 01

    The welcome email

Checkout triggers a message with your sign-in, normally within roughly a quarter of an hour. Open it on a phone so it stays visible while the TV is in use.

  • 02

A player that matches the screen

MAG box: no app. Google TV or Android TV: TiviMate. Fire TV Stick: IPTV Smarters Pro, or TiviMate if you prefer. Samsung, LG and Apple TV: IBO Player. Phones, tablets, Windows and Mac: IPTV Smarters Pro.

  • 03

    Ordinary home internet

Whatever broadband already runs the house will do. A network cable is steadier than Wi-Fi wherever one can reach.

  • IBO Player
  • TiviMate
  • IPTV Smarters Pro

MAG Box IPTV on your MAG box: portal URL and MAC

This is home ground. A MAG box runs no apps. It opens a portal address, and the service recognizes your box by the MAC address on its underside label. The same routine applies to every MAG model.

  1. Locate the Portal URL inside the welcome email and keep that email open beside you.
  2. Flip the box over and read the MAC address from its label. Should the email or support ask you to confirm it, send it to [email protected] first.
  3. In the box menu choose Settings, System settings, Servers and then Portals. Labels differ slightly between firmware releases.
  4. Name the first portal whatever you like. In the URL line, enter the portal address exactly as written, without a space at either end.
  5. Save the entry, go back to the main menu, then restart the box from its menu or unplug it for a few seconds.
  6. On the next start the portal opens by itself and the channels appear.
  • No app
  • Every MAG model

Empty screen? Look for a stray space in the URL, restart again and compare the MAC address with the label. If it stays blank, email support with the box model and its MAC address.

Google TV or Android TV running MAG Box IPTV

Sets and streamers running Google TV or Android TV pick up apps from Google Play, so you can finish without leaving the couch.

  1. On the home screen, open Google Play and search for TiviMate.
  2. Press Install, then open TiviMate when it is done.
  3. Choose to add a playlist and pick the sign-in type that your email describes.
  4. Type the lines your email provides, exactly as printed, and confirm.
  5. Give the first load a moment, then try a live channel.
  • TiviMate

TiviMate lays out channels in a time grid, which makes tonight's games easy to spot.

MAG Box IPTV through a Fire TV Stick and Downloader

The stick's own store does not carry every player, so this route sideloads one with the free Downloader app. Every step below uses IPTV Smarters Pro.

  1. Search the stick for Downloader and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
  2. In the stick's settings, usually My Fire TV and then Developer options, permit Downloader to install unknown apps.
  3. Launch Downloader, fetch the IPTV Smarters Pro installer from the app maker's website and select Install.
  4. Start IPTV Smarters Pro and sign in with the lines from your welcome email.
  5. Let IPTV Smarters Pro finish its first load, then open a channel. Remove the installer file if Downloader offers.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro

TiviMate also runs on a stick. If you prefer it, use TiviMate in every step instead and leave the other app out of that setup.

MAG Box IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV

These sets run their own app platforms, and IBO Player suits them best. Setup has two parts: place the app on the television, then register that television on a web page.

  1. Open the TV's own store, which is called Apps on a Samsung and LG Content Store on an LG.
  2. Find IBO Player, install it and launch it.
  3. The app lists two codes: the TV's MAC address, then a device key. Jot both down, or snap a photo of the screen.
  4. Switch to a phone or computer and visit IBO Player's activation page. Type in the TV's MAC address plus its device key there, and add your login from the welcome email.
  5. Return to the TV, close IBO Player and open it again to pull in your channels.
  • IBO Player

With IBO Player, entering a username and password on the TV alone does not finish the job. IBO Player's activation page needs the TV's MAC and key as well.

MAG Box IPTV on Apple TV with IBO Player

The tvOS App Store carries IBO Player, and it is registered just like the Samsung and LG version.

  1. Head for the App Store tile, look up IBO Player and press Get.
  2. Start the app. It displays this Apple TV's MAC address and, below it, a device key.
  3. On a phone or computer, browse to IBO Player's activation page, submit the MAC address plus device key and attach your login from the welcome email.
  4. Back on the Apple TV, reopen the app and your channels load.
  • IBO Player

Typing with the Siri Remote is tedious, so do the long entries on a phone instead.

MAG Box IPTV on an iPhone or iPad

A quick way to prove your login works: the email already sits on the same device, so long entries get pasted rather than typed.

  1. In the App Store, look up IPTV Smarters Pro, then tap Get.
  2. Open the app and tap to add a user.
  3. Copy each line out of the welcome email and paste it into the matching box.
  4. Save, give the lists a moment, then tap Live TV.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro

MAG Box IPTV on an Android handset or tablet

Google Play has the app. TiviMate is not offered for phones or tablets, so the app to use here is IPTV Smarters Pro.

  1. Open Google Play, then find IPTV Smarters Pro and tap Install.
  2. Launch it and add a user.
  3. Paste the sign-in lines from your email.
  4. Tap sign in and pick a channel once the lists have loaded.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro

MAG Box IPTV on a Windows or Mac computer

Handy for checking the account at a desk. Both systems run the desktop edition of IPTV Smarters Pro.

  1. Download the desktop edition of IPTV Smarters Pro for Windows or Mac from the app maker's site, or from the app store built into your computer.
  2. Install it, then open it.
  3. Add a user with the sign-in lines from your email.
  4. When the lists load, choose a channel or a movie.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro

Keep the email open in another window and paste from it, since long entries are easy to mistype.

Questions

MAG Box IPTV setup questions

Short answers for the spots where setups most often stall.

Does a MAG box need an app?

No. It opens a portal address in place of an app. Enter the portal URL from your welcome email in the box settings, keep the MAC address from its label nearby, and restart.

What goes on a Samsung, LG or Apple TV?

IBO Player, from the TV's own store. These screens need more than a username and password. IBO Player shows the TV's MAC address and a device key, and you register both, along with your login, on the IBO Player activation page.

Why does my MAG box show a blank screen?

Usually a small typo. Look for a stray space in the portal URL, restart once more and check the MAC address against the label. If it stays blank, email [email protected] with the box model and the MAC address.

Is TiviMate available on phones or tablets?

No. TiviMate is not offered for phones or tablets. Use IPTV Smarters Pro on an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or Android tablet, and keep TiviMate for Google TV, Android TV and the Fire TV Stick.

How soon does the login email arrive?

Activation is instant, and the email normally lands about 15 minutes after checkout. Spam folders catch some messages, so look there before writing to support with the address you used.

Does MAG Box IPTV need extra equipment?

No. A MAG box, TV or phone you already own, plus ordinary home internet, is enough. No satellite dish and no installer visit come into it.
